Stan has been breeding, raising and showing a versatile line of Paint Horse and Quarter Horse performance and halter horses since 1963, when he purchased his first paint stallion by Painted Robin 800 (Revenue Robin A.J.) from A.J. Jack Campbell in Douglas Wyoming.

That first stallion has long since passed, but the Barthel Paint & Quarter Horse breeding program continues to produce the quality young horses necessary to maintain a position in the Paint Horse Industry as one of the Association’s Lifetime Leading Breeders. Our desire to upgrade the quality of our mares and stallions continuously, has allowed us to produce good looking, athletic, all around show prospects with a “natural willingness” to please their handlers.
